Subject: SMS & MMS Delays 6/7/2023

Please note that multiple users have reported issues with SMS and MMS messaging delays today across all messaging codes (short code, toll-free, and 10-DLC).  As a result of the delays, some users were forced to abort their scheduled messages.

While there was a significant increase in MMS messaging activity this morning, this does not appear to be the cause of the system slowness. After further review, our engineers have determined the root cause of the system slowness to be a clean-up script failure. Our engineers have isolated the issue and are taking steps to resolve the script failure.

Around 1:08pm PT, the messaging queue was clear of any pending outbound messages. However, there is currently a backlog of SMS and MMS messages that have not yet been written to the sent logs. This means that the messages have been SENT but do not yet appear in the SENT LOGS. This backlog will clear in the coming hours as our engineers resolve the clean-up script.
